The Zahir

I truly enjoyed this book. In love sometimes, we fall into the monotony of life and the person we love the most then becomes a stranger. This book is about a man's journey to gain back his Zahir(love/obsession). However, because of this love he rediscovers himself.

I would definitely recommend this book.. If you believe in love or even if you don't; read this book.

I will leave you with a quote from the book that will say with me forever. "That is why it is so important to let certain things go. To release them. To cut loose. People need to understand that no one is playing with marked cards; sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. Don't expect recognition for your efforts, don't expect your genius to be discovered or your love to be understood. Complete the circle. Not out of pride, inability, or arrogrance, but simply because whatever it is no longer fits in your life. Close the door, change the record, clean the house, get rid of the dust. Stop being who you were and become who you are."

Veronika Decides to Die

"Veronika Decides to Die" by Paulo Coelho is based loosely on the author actual time in a mentality facility. The question that this book is trying to answer is, why would a 24 year old woman (Veronika), who seems to have everything try to commit suicide? Veronika attempt at suicide failed, which lands her in a mental facility. Where she is told she only has days to live.

Questions: What road would you take, if you were told that you only had days to live after committing suicide, would you be happy that you were going to die or would you gain a new lease on life? What is the meaning of insanity? Are there degrees of insanity? Is one insane because they don't necessarily fit into the normal pattern of society?

Overall, this was a good read. The characters are easy to identify with. What I like most about this book is that it reminds you that it is okay to be different and in trying to follow society, one may end up losing themselves.

I recommend...
